Especially as we as a family has 3 daughters in the Young Women's program right now. As a mother... I am truly grateful for all the Lord gives us to help in leading, teaching and guiding these sweet girls to try and make the best decisions possible in their lives. I know I can't do it all on my own. I need the Lord and the gospel and my amazing spouse to help me along this path of raising teenagers!

Well..... 2012 is basically here and it's time to dive into a brand new Manual.

Here's the handout I created for Lesson 1 "A Daughter of God".

For those who are just finding my blog.... WELCOME!

I try and stay on top of the Lessons and handouts for them as well as some fun Visiting Teaching handouts for your sisters. January's will be posted shortly.

Each of my handouts are $2.50 and can be purchased by clicking on the PayPal "Buy Now" button under the handouts in my posts. This will take you to the PayPal site where you can pay with a Debit or Credit Card. Once I recieve notification of your purchase your handout is normally emailed within 20-30 mins. Please allow up to a few hours for delivery though as sometimes I am not always near a computer or my phone. You will receive a PDF and JPG of the handout without the watermark. The jpg can be copied and pasted into Word and easily resized and printed there. I actually prefer to print my handouts on regular white cardstock and then depending on the detail... I even mount them onto more colored scrapbooking paper for added thickness and cuteness. HA!

YW Lesson 43 Associations with Others

I think this will be a fun handout to use for Lesson 43 since it calls for the girls to write down some ways they can improve their relationship and association with at least one person during the week. Hey there! So I've been getting lots of emails and requests for theme ideas for New Beginnings so I thought I would make this available to those who would like to purchase it. It's a "we bee-lieve" theme and the 1st image is the outside of the New Beginnings invite. The 2nd is the inside which will be worded however you need it to be. The 3rd image is a beehive that you can use for decorations, posters, handouts as well as the 4th, 5th, and 6th images. Please understand that you are getting 7 images total (including a blank inside to use for other projects) and I will be adding the wording to the invite for you before you get them. They come ready to print out, cut, and attach to the card fronts or print as flyers.... however you choose to use them. They do not come in digital "parts". Please email me with any questions if you have them before purchasing.

Hi there! So I've made it a goal in 2011 to stay on top of the monthly visiting teaching messages too. Obviously because I'm soooooooo late with January's handout, I won't be charging my cheap handout design fee on this one. Hi there! I know it's been forever since I've posted anything and I've probably disappointed many of you by disappearing for a while. I have to apologize and hope you will still check in here during 2011.

The last 3 1/2 months have been difficult for our family as my husband lost his job and was unemployed until this week. Thank goodness for a job! Anyway... I was swamped with having to work on other things to make income and so my sweet little handout blog suffered.

I just wanted to post and thank those who have sent sweet emails checking in on me. I really appreciate your kindness. I also wanted to let you know I will be posting the 1st handout in Lesson Manual 3 tomorrow so you can plan on having something for Sunday if you don't already. It's my goal this coming year to stay on top of things regardless of life's little road blocks.

This isn't exactly "Church Handout" related but it can and will be. I've had several requests from people asking for my handmade images I create to be made into png files that you can use on whatever types of projects you'd like. I've actually had these requests from friends and family for years now. These images can be used on all types of projects.... really the possiblities are endless. You don't even need fancy software to create with them. I just copy and paste them into a Word doc, resize how I want and then print them! I cut them out and add them to cards and scrapbooking pages. Of course you are only limited to what your imagination can create with them.

I will be putting together many more kits like this and also strictly Young Women themed ones as well to help you with your handouts and callings. But because one of my favorite holidays is quickly approaching I went with a Halloween kit to start. You can visit my personal blog to see some samples of projects created with this. I am super excited to be able to share a little of my handmade creations with you!

The man die cut and the word DAD are sandpaper. This was a fun one.

Gallery Idol: It's that time again!

Crossing my fingers for the 3rd summer in a row! I made the Top 20 of Paper Craft's Gallery Idol again this year and am super excited for yet another chance to compete with some uber-talented card-makers. I got to create a card using their "Creativity Heals" theme and came up with this "encouraging" card with my favorite Irish Blessing quote. Click on the photo to see the larger image. I added a little brown bow to the base of the mailbox cause I just can't stand to have a perfectly flat handout. HA HA HA!!! That's just me!

This is a fun, quick and easy handout to put together. All I did was print THIS onto white cardstock and cut it out. I mounted it onto two different colorful scrapbooking papers then machine stitched the border on it. You don't have to do this to have it still look cute. I just have a thing for sewing on my projects. :) I printed THIS house out onto white cardstock and cut it out then attached it to the handout using pop-dots or foam tape so it stands up off the page and looks dimensional. Last I added a bow to the front of the house. You know.... taking the cuteness factor up a few notches. HA HA!

The lesson for this week talks about providing some pedigree charts for your girls to fill in so that's an awesome thing to do with them! I created this tree pattern and created a "card" that they could personalize in class too. All you have to do is have everything done except gluing down the leaves for each member of their families. Just cut out a bunch of those to have on hand so they can add however many they need to the outside like I've done here. We have 7 children so there are quite a few leaves on our tree. LOL It still looks cute to only have a few. I made THIS CARD a few months back and it's what came to my mind when thinking about this handout. You don't need a bunch of leaves for it to be cute still. I think your girls will love it too!

Anyway..... all I did was glue some scrapbooking paper down to a 5x7 inch white card. Then used a cereal bowl to create the half circle and glued that down too. I like to add machine sewing on my projects but you can add linework or add nothing. Use my pattern below to create the tree and leaves. Print THIS out to add the quote to the front and the inside. Easy peasy!

To create this handout I printed THIS onto some notebook paper. It ran fine through my printer though I was a bit nervous about it. Then I trimmed it down to where I wanted it size wise (leaving space to add heart with pencil) before adhereing it to the fun mount of cute scrapbooking paper. Then I traced my heart pattern (see below) onto the purple cardstock to cut out the heart and adhered it to handout using pop-dots. Last I tied some black ribbon around the pencil then used some glue dots to stick the pencil on the heart.

I added a pink chipboard heart and some pearl stickers I had in my scrapbooking stash.

This was a fun handout for me to create. I couldn't find some cute FREE clipart online anywhere.... or I should say that was actually CUTE ENOUGH to use. LOL So I decided to draw something out myself. I'm pretty decent with shapes of different kinds but I have NEVER been very good at drawing people. So forgive me if this looks really juvenile. I guess since it's for a Young Women's handout it just might work! Wink!

Anyhoo.... I printed the image I drew onto some heavier white cardstock. Then I used my watercolor pencils to add some coloring. This would look cute printed right onto colored paper too or even on white with no coloring added. Copy mine or use your imagination! Once I finished coloring it I traced a light circle and cut the image out using my small scalloped scrapbooking scissors. Then I added a stitched border using my sewing machine. LOVE THAT THING! I PRINTED THIS onto some pink colored cardstock then cut it out using my large scalloped scissors. Finally I adhered the white center to the pink using pop dots. Oh! And I added the cute little pink cording for a bow.

I think I was feeling the green this week as I long for Spring and of course St. Patty's Day is around the corner.

Since it IS already Thursday and I am running behind as usual... I tried to keep this simple. I created two different pdf's of this so you could print the green version like mine or just go with a classic black and mount it on any color you'd like. Here they are:

Once I printed it out onto white cardstock I mounted it on some black as a frame. Then I tied the black cording around the bottom and to the front onto the heart. Last, I glued it to the patterned paper and trimmed.

YW Lesson #10 - The Priesthood: A Great Blessing

The handout for this week's lesson was so fun to make and a nice change from something so "cutesy". It's also an interactive handout. By this I mean your girls can use the back of this handout during the lesson and write down what you discuss and ways the Priesthood blesses their lives. This requires a little bit of printing and cutting but is worth the effort and I've done the hard part for you! Here's some quick instructions:

1. Print THIS onto some colored cardstock. I used the light blue dotted paper. Then cut it big enough to attach the white shirt.

2. I drew a black line around the edge of the blue cardstock then mounted/glued it onto some white and trimmed it leaving a small border.

3. Print the shirt pattern onto some white cardstock then cut it out leaving a small border. (see photo) Glue to handout.

4. Cut the extra collar out of the cardstock leaving a small border as well. Adhere to shirt using a pop-dot.

5. Print the tie onto some red cardstock or whatever color you want it to be then trim it leaving a small border as well. Adhere to shirt using a pop-dot.

6. Print THIS onto regular computer paper, trim then glue to back of handout like pictured.

YW Lesson #9 - A Young Woman as a Peacemaker in Her Home

This handout is a cute one you can create using your paper scraps from previous projects! Here is the pdf to print. I printed mine onto white cardstock, cut it out, inked the edges with a brown inkpad, and glued it down on the pink dotted cardstock. I didn't sew on this one at all... can you believe it? HA! I used an ultra fine black Sharpie pen to create the little black "stitches" everywhere. I used a punch to cut the little squares but I included it in the pattern in case you don't own a punch. All the edges on this handout got inked to give it a worn look. Once I glued down the squares and added the stitches... the heart comes next. I cut the heart out of pink dotted cardstock and inked it before glueing it down on some white. I cut it out leaving a small border so I could add stitches to the heart as well. I used pop dots to adhere the heart to the handout so it stands up off the page a bit. Last I added the mini square patch, button and white embroidery floss bow.

Here's something I created that's SUPER SIMPLE for this lesson. Besides personally running out of time this week to make anything too involved, I felt like the message needed to be the focus. As it does EVERY week, but this one had a lot of writing. :)

February Visiting Teaching Handout

Here's a SUPER easy handout I put together to go along with this Month's Visiting Teaching message.

All you need to do is print THIS PDF onto some cardstock, cut it to the size you want and mount that on a different color to "frame it". I used white. I also added a machine stitched border on the kraft before I glue it down on the white. Use THIS FREE CLIP ART by copy and pasting it into a word doc, size it how you want, print then mount it on some cardstock. I used more kraft for this and even used my scalloped scissors to trim the edges. Then I punched small holes and tied a hemp bow through the dollar signs. I used pop dots to adhere this piece to the handout. Done! Easy Peasy!

YW lesson #7 - Living in Love and Harmony

I know I've used a house for a handout recently but this one's a little different... plus it has angel wings! Ahhhhhh! Right??? Ha!

Patterns are provided below as usual and CLICK HERE for the pdf with the wording I used on it.

Here's some basic step-by-step instructions on how I did this:

1. Trace all patterns onto whatever scrapbook paper you choose.

2. I added some brown chalk inking along all the edges to give a worn look to it. This is optional and will still be very cute if you don't do this.

3. next I added the linework and machine stitching..... again.. optional.

4. apply adhesive to back of house --- DO NOT apply adhesive in area where wings will be added.

5. Glue down on brown kraft colored cardstock then trim a small border all the way around like photo. Apply adhesive to front and back part of wings then stick them between pink house and brown.

6. Adhere heart and harmony definition using pop-dots. Glue down small white wordstrips on heart.

YW Lesson #6 - Sharing Work in the Home

The Neal A. Maxwell quote in this lesson was a super good one so I wanted to use it on this. CLICK HERE for the pdf that will make it easy peasy to recreate this handout! I am also posting the pattern I made for the broom. I cut the handle out of brown cardstock and the broom part from yellow. I added some brown chalk ink highlights along the edges of the broom and then used a black extra fine sharpie to add the linework. I adhered the broom to the handout using pop-dots so it would stand off the page a bit. I had some pink cording I tied around the broom but embroidery floss would work too.

I've had many of you email and ask what kind of scrapbooking paper I use for my handouts. Since I am a scrapbooker... I pretty much just use stuff I have in my stash but the different colored dotted cardstock you see me use... like on this handout is from a company called Bo Bunny. I've been designing for them for about 5 years now. Anyhooooo... here's a link to some of the papers I am referring to. It's called Bo Bunny Double Dot Cardstock.... to be exact. :) Oh..... and I punched some hearts out of yellow cardstock so I could glue them down and create a border to fill some space behind the broom. I hope this makes sense! Got a lot on my plate this week so I am in a bit of a rush today! I will be posting Lesson #7's handout either today or tomorrow so ya'll can get a headstart on those!

Baptism Cookies

I made these for my daughter's baptism this weekend but the idea can be used for any occasion really! We didn't want to make everyone stay after for refreshments since they had already been at church for three hours. But I still wanted to tell them thanks for coming and send them home with something sweet! So I baked these small heart sugar cookies and covered them with white icing then sprinkled them with sugar crystals. Stuck them in small bags and tied the note to each one. After the baptism Cassidy thoroughly enjoyed handing out cookies to everyone and thanking them for sharing in her special day. ♥♥♥

I hope the handout I made for this lesson doesn't totally scare or intimidate those who aren't into scrap booking. There's lots of cutting but it's SUPER cute and I think your Young Women will L♥VE it so that makes it worth it right?

I found an old school handout in my file that had these phrases on it so of course I had to use them. Click here to get the pdf of the wording strips. I have this jumbo flower punch that I used but I traced it to make the pattern for those who don't have a punch. I drew out the rest of the shapes you'll need as well. Click here to download the font I used called Smiley Monster.

Here's some quick step-by-step instructions on how to create this handout!

1. Trace all shapes onto whatever scrapbooking paper you choose and cut them out.

2. I used my sewing machine and stitched a white border around the edge of the house to give it an extra homey-crafty feel. You could also use an extra-fine black pen and just add linework like what's around the sun.

3. I glued the house to some white cardstock and then trimmed it leaving a tiny white border. This just reinforces the cardstock and I think it looks cute too! :)

4. Add linework to the flower, stem and sun then glue them down.

5. Add heart to top of house (I had some chipboard hearts but you can use a punch on this too! Or cut one out yourself!) and add green tied ribbon for leaves to the stem.

6. Glue down button for flower center and adhere wordstrips and YOU'RE DONE! ♥

I loved the quote by Pres. Spencer W. Kimball in this lesson so I used it on the handout. I think I've mentioned before how much I love FREE Clipart that you can find online. The possibilities are endless when you find ways to incorporate them into your handouts. Here's the link to the well image. I saved it into a Word doc then resized it and printed it onto some white cardstock. I cut it out leaving a tiny white border then added it to my handout using pop-dots again. I love those things! I love dimension! Oh! I added the jute bow before adhering the well. I also printed and cut out the water bucket so I could add that on top of the well using pop-dots. Makes it stand out.

YW Lesson #3 - Building the Kingdom of God

I hope you'll have enough time to throw this together! I meant to get it posted earlier! It's a fun one that I think your girls will love!

I created a pattern of the crown and heart for you to use. I cut them out of scrapbook paper and then inked the edges with some brown chalk ink to give them an aged look. I added a zig-zag stitch using my sewing machine around the heart before I glued it down on the white paper. Trimmed it to create the border. I added the crown and the wordstrips using some pop-dots so they stood up off the heart a little. Then added the little bling/jewels to the crown.

Here are a couple of ideas for the new 2010 Theme handouts. I know there will be lots of "New Beginnings" being held all around the world over the next month or so. These would be fun to give to each of your Young Women as a gift. A reminder that they can keep hung up in their rooms. I'm working on some other things with the new Theme on them as well. You can recreate something similar to these or I am taking orders for them if you'd rather I make them for you!

The shield and heart are BOTH $3.95 each + $1.00 for shipping. They measure approx. 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" not including the jute hanger. Products will vary depending on availability. This small little gift bag has nothing in it but tissue paper. I thought it would be fun to use a bag instead of a box as a gift for this handout. Super easy and cheap to make for your girls. They sell super small gift bags at Michael's and Hobby Lobby for super cheap!

YW Lesson #1 - Drawing Closer to Jesus Christ

I've had the idea for this handout in my file FOREVER! I think I used it 10+ yrs ago when I was first called to teach the Mia Maids. I don't know where I got it back then but the message still applies today so I hope you like it.

I gave the girls this handout and presented the following object lesson:

I displayed a decorative mirror on the table as well as a picture of Christ right in front of the mirror leaving some of the mirror still visible. Then I had each girl look in the mirror then back away from it. After each girl did this I asked them "What happened as you drew closer to the mirror?" As you draw closer to Christ, He draws closer to you. Then I asked, "What happened as you moved away from the mirror?" As you move further away from Christ you no longer feel close to him. Christ isn't the one who moves. He is always there waiting for us to draw near to Him.

Here's a pattern for the mirror I drew. The little round mirror came from an old compact I had. I am sure you could find some cheap at the dollar store or in your stash of old make-up.

***EDITED TO ADD*** For those of you who are fortunate enough to have a Hobby Lobby close by... I saw that they carry a package of 3" round mirrors for $2.47 and there is 5 in the pack. Use a coupon and they are even cheaper! WAY COOL!!!

Happy New Year to my Paper Cakes and Icing readers! I hope you are each happy and healthy as we welcome 2010!!!
A few personal notes to share about my work here at PC&I. First I have to say how grateful I am to those who have sent messages to check in on me and express your excitement about my handouts getting posted again. The cyber-love has been overwhelming and far reaching. To be honest, I was not sure if I would be closing up shop or not but there is an obvious desire and need for the fun little things I create based on your emails. My family recently started attending a ward in a different near-by town and I am no longer teaching in Young Women's so you can imagine my struggle with the decision to keep things fresh and updated regularly.
Well.... I've decided that I need this as much as some of you do! I still have 5 young daughters, Family Home Evening in our home and a calling as a Visiting Teacher.... all of which would still benefit from what I do here. So... in an effort to stay on top of the weekly YW's handouts that I will continue to do starting today, you should know that I may not always be as detailed in my directions and patterns as I have in the past but if you see something you have specific questions about PLEASE don't hesitate to email me and ask!
I'm sorry for taking longer than I expected to get back here! Life happens right? So before I post the next two week's lesson handouts... I will leave you with a photo I took recently of my sweet Chloe girl who just turned 2 months old. She's a little slice of heaven here in our home.

Santa's Underwear candy/gift card holder

uggh. I'm having serious problems with my printer today! Not sure if I will be able to get the handout done that I wanted to and posted to share! I'm so sorry!

Since I don't have the handout today I thought it would be fun to share this pattern that's been in my family for years! I love giving this to my kids' teachers for Christmas and they are always a hit!

All you do is cut the two pieces out then glue or sew around the edges leaving only the top open. Then you can use "Santa's underwear" to give a small gift, candy, or a gift card to someone for Christmas. You can use fabric, felt, or paper.... i love paper! ♥ Here's the pattern and you can print it as large as you need to by resizing it.

I just wanted to check in and say I haven't forgotten about my little ole handout blog. To be honest I've just given myself a little more "recovery" time than I normally do with my sweet little caboose. She's our last little one so I have been soaking up every moment of the "newborn" stage with her that I can. Still so fresh from heaven..... it's hard not to want to just hold her all day.

Anyway, I am taking a trip, just me and the baby, back home to Arizona next weekend for my sister's wedding in the Mesa Temple. When I get home it will be time to kick things back in high gear again and I will be back in business here on the blog! Have ya even missed me? LOL!

I just wanted to pop in here and say HI and give you a baby update!

Sweet little Chloe Anne Vineyard made her way into our world and hearts on Tuesday, Nov. 3rd. She weighed in at 9lbs 7oz and was 22inches long. All this at almost two weeks early!

Momma & baby are doing well. Trying to get adjusted to new routines and all that comes with little sleep. HA! We are excited to have this sweet little angel in our family and are thoroughly enjoying her! Thanks for all your sweet comments and prayers!

Special Delivery Update

Hey there! Just wanted to check in and give ya the heads up on what's going on over here! I am getting ready to give birth to my 5th child. If I don't have this sweet baby by about the 7th of November my doctor will be inducing me. Sooooooo.... that being said.... please forgive me if I don't post much over the next 3 weeks or so. Life is a bit crazy here! I promise to keep you posted and let you know when I will be back to taking special orders.
